Stronghold 2 introduces us to some great eye candy such as shipwrecks which can normally only be placed in the sea. This tutorial shows you how to place shipwrecks on land and also in rivers...
Submitted by Aubergine, and a nice picture from Kevtor
This is a really easy trick and allows you to put a shipwreck on any terrain at sea level using the map editor. Decide where you want your shipwreck and place some sea terrain. To do this, edit your map and choose the water palette in the terrain editor, then choose the sea tool and paint on the map:
Next, go in to the castle editor and select the civilian buildings tab. Click on the ship button and then move your mouse over the sea and click to place a shipwreck:

Note: Before clicking to place a shipwreck, you can use your mouse wheel to roate the ship. Now, you can either leave the ship in the sea (handy for when you actually want your shipwreck in the sea!) or you can use a little trick to put it on to dry land... Go back in to the terrain editor and under the water pallete, choose the sea tool again but this time also select the eraser. Paint over the sea on your map and you will see that it is erased and replaced with forest floor terrain:
Now that the sea is gone, you can paint over the shipwreck with any number of land terrain types. Select the land terrain palette and then choose your desired terrain type. In the picture below, we've painted strips of several different land terrains to show the different effects you can get:
The shipwreck will act as a barrier to civilians, military units and animals so it's more than just eye candy! Here's a nice picture which Kevtor submitted:
And it's not just land terrain that can be used - if you go back in to the water palette you will find that you can now paint over the ship with river terrain!
Scripted Shipwrecks If you don't mind doing a bit of scripting, you can use the Move Ship action to get a ship to almost any location and then use the "Turn to Wreck" option to create a shipwreck:
The scripted ship wreck is slightly different to one placed in the map editor in that units and animals, etc., will all walk through it as if it were not there. In addition, there is a visual difference as seen in the picture below:
The wreck at the top was placed in the map editor wheras the wreck near the middle of the picture was scripted. Have fun!
Note: New pictures and info added regarding scripted shipwrecks (visually different and ability to put wrecks inside buildings)!
